Port of Tyne, South Shields Beach and Marine Park

Today I managed to drag two of my house mates on an adventure with me. I went to the same places I visited up the coast a couple of weeks ago, we decided to go and see what the Roman Fort, Arbelia at South Shields was like, just for something to do. We got there at just as it was closing, but since it was a sunny day we headed down to the beach instead.

Beach at Tyne Port

We walked along the beach that was part of the Port of Tyne where we saw a huge ferry depart for Amsterdam. It was a beautiful clear day, even though it was pretty cold and windy and I managed to get about 3 tonnes of sand in my shoes.

We walked along the promenade, intending to walk up to the light house but it was shut and we couldn't walk more than half way so we turned around and went to look at the fun fair instead. The amusements contained the normal sort of stalls and rides, such as hook a duck, a helter skelter and a pirate ship, we didn't go on any of them though as none of us had any change and the rides looked pretty dangerous. They did have crazy golf though, but we didn't have enough time to play it... next time maybe.

After we had thoroughly investigated the fun fair, we walked back to the car though the park. The blossom seems to have sprung up from nowhere all over the country this week, and it seems South Shields was no exception, tree after tree or pink and white blossom filled the park making everything look lovely and summery.
